"Dream, Dream, Dream! Conduct these dreams into thoughts, and then transform them into action."
- Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to go out and enjoy a meal at 1 a.m., but stayed put hungry at home because of lack of options? Or you had time to watch a movie only in the morning, but the theatre near you does not operate during that time? Well, all this is about to change. The government has approved the Model Shop & Establishment Act, under which establishments such as malls, eateries and theatres, with ten or more employees, can now operate 24*7, 365 days a year. The law recommends better working conditions for employees as well as security for women employees so that they can work in night shifts.
The passing of this Act will benefit the government, companies and the consumers. Consumers will have access to services any time of the day. The establishments can operate for 24 hours, thus increasing their revenue. The government will benefit from increased taxation income. The Bill can be adopted as it is by the States and Union Territories or they can modify it according to their requirement.
